PERMITS
SMOKE/CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR PERMIT

Valid for 60 days
Appointments are on Monday & Friday only between 9:30 - 11:30. This is a two-hour window. An adult must be at the residence no later than 9:30 on their scheduled date.
Inspections for Monday must be scheduled no later than 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Inspections for Friday must be scheduled no later than 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

BURNING PERMIT
No fee
Valid for two consecutive days with weather permitting (see attached instructions when permit is obtained)
Permits may be revoked by the Fire Department at any time as conditions warrant.
Valid from January 15th to May 1st
CUTTING & WELDING PERMIT
$20 fee
Valid for 30 days unless being used continuously for purpose of conducting business; expires annually March 15th
Permit must be obtained by welder only
A firewatch may be required at the discretion of the Fire Prevention Officers
If a firewatch is required:
24hr notice is needed for all fire details
Payment is due within 30 days of the date of the invoice
DUMPSTER PERMIT
$60 fee
Valid for 30 days (Residential)
Valid for 1 year (Commercial) expires annually March 15th
The name of the dumpster company and address is required to obtain a permit
All dumpsters must be placed 5 feet from the property and off the street
Businesses must present their integrated pest control management plan before the dumpster permit will be issued
FLAMMABLE LIQUID PERMIT
$20 fee
Valid for 1 year, expires annually on March 15th.
A list of all flammables and the quantity being stored is required.
HOOD/FIRE SUPPRESSION PERMIT
$35 fee
Valid for 60 days
A set of plans and system specifications are required
FIRE ALRM PERMIT
$35 fee….. 7,500 -12,500 square feet
$60 fee ….. 12,500 – 25,000 square feet
$110 fee….. 25,000 -52,000 square feet
A set of Fire Alarm plans and a narrative stating the scope of work must be provided to obtain a permit along with a valid license.

SPRINKLER PERMIT
$35 fee….. 7,500 - 12,500 square feet
$60 fee …..12,500 - 25,000 square feet
$110 fee….. 25,000 - 52,000 square feet
A set of Sprinkler plans, hydraulic calculations along with a narrative stating the scope of work must be provided to obtain a permit along with a valid Sprinkler Contractor’s license.

OIL BURNER OR STORAGE TANK PERMIT
$20 fee
A Form 1 Permit can be mailed in or dropped off at the Fire Prevention Office
Combustion test must be completed on the permit
Homeowner or Installing Company must call to schedule an appointment after the permit has been filed except as provided for in Mass Fire Prevention Regulations CMR 527 no tank may be abandoned, a permit is required by the Fire Department for the removal.
RESIDENTIAL TANK REMOVAL PERMIT
$20 fee (under 1100 gallons)
$25 fee (over 1100 gallons)
If the tank is underground, a Dig Safe number is required
Permit must be obtained prior to the tank removal
Tank must be inspected the day of removal before being taken off the property
COMMERCIAL TANK REMOVAL PERMIT
$20 fee (under 1100 gallons)
$25 fee (over 1100 gallons)

LIQUID PROPANE PERMIT
